Welcome! Take a scroll!

Alright. So last week I went out shooting into the middle of Sumas Prairies in Abbotsford. It turned out while I was driving I saw a lot of birds flying around. It ended up being eagles! I’m so happy I brought my 70-200f4L. The cool part about the eagles there was that there were only a couple of them with the white heads. The rest were yet to mature, fully, and get their white feathers. So these eagles were teenager eagles which is so cool!!! Seeing those eagles take off and fly was insane! I don’t even know how to describe how fascinated/excited/in awe/amazed I was. It was like I was a little kid opening presents at Christmas!…you get the picture. Anyways, here’s a glimpse of what happened.

Alright. so the last shoot I had to do for one of my courses was this. Had a lot of fun, yet was quite nervous. My instructor said she was going to grade us on our direction to our models. But the catch was, she wasn’t going to be looking over our shoulder. She’d be grading us when she was talking to someone else, or coming in randomly to grab something, and then grade us without us knowing! So nerve racking! Anyways, here’s some stuff of what happened.

So. Yesterday was quite interesting. Lots of eagles were flying everywhere! I was driving around Sumas Prairies, and saw these huge huge birds in the trees. I’ll show you some photos in a later post. I forgot how much fun panoramas are. This is over Abbotsford, looking north, from Sumas Prairies. Here’s a glimpse of Abbotsford!

Alright, so yesterday was too nice of a day to give up shooting, so I called up my friend, Vanessa, and got her to model for me! With that softbox I had made (which turned into a prism unfortunately but still works) I decided to try it out in full daylight. We went into the mountains of Abbotsford to a farm of a friends. It’s like a paradise there; completely quiet, open farmland surrounded by huge trees, white fences, blissful. Anyways, here’s a bit of what went on.

Alright. So last Friday I had the opportunity to do a rockstar shoot. We had a model come in (Shawn) and I think he pulled off the “rockstar” look quite well. We had a corporate and glamour shoot to do as well but out of them all, I liked this one best. Anyways, here’s a taste of what went on last week!

Alright. So last week for one of my classes I had a studio assignment to shoot a sports theme and lottery ticket winner. I liked it a lot! These models were brought in by Langara, so nobody had any clue who they were, which made it more intimidating to do, but for that very same reason, made the part that made it very fun. Thanks to my instructor, Lurenda G., as she prepared us through previous assignments and exercises of how to feel more comfortable and confident in shooting. To say the least, it paid off so much! Anyways, here’s a bit of what went on last week in studio.

Alright. So today I had the opportunity to do a photoshoot. I had the chance to use my softbox that I made which failed complete and turned into a SoftTriangularPrism due to my terrible miscalculation of dimensions…yeah I know, the certificate in Architectural Drafting & Design definitely paid off…not. Anyways, weirdly enough today it started snowing and so I decided to shoot underneath the highway #1 overpass along a railroad track. My model for today was a friend of mine, Nikolina (Nikki). The cold sure didn’t help both of us trying to stay warm during the time! What I’ve included here is a few photos and yes, that hat is probably the warmest hat ever! I don’t know about you but I like it. Tacky? Meh, it was cold out! Anyways, here’s a bit of fun that went on this afternoon.

So. Saturday I went I had to go downtown to Vancouver for my two landscape and street photography courses. We ended up shooting in the Chinatown area and then down by 1st & Commercial. Unfortunately today was the day that the wind decided to blast at 70km/h gusts…my numb hands thank you. Anyways, it ended up clearing and the sun beamed down for a first time in a while after all the rain we’ve had. My instructor wanted us to focus  on things not many people notice. A challenge he gave us was to only use one lens and stick to the same focal length. Another challenge was to try and hip shot…ha well I tried it out…definitely takes a lot of practice to get it down, and I have lots of practicing to do! I find street photography so interesting. It’s so candid. I mean, you’re walking up and down streets, sitting or standing in a single spot for so long trying to find the perfect moment that tells a story of that image. It’s what makes myself love photography. Capture the present, create history, and through it, inspire those ahead of us. I’m not a fan of color, and I’m sure you’ve noticed it, but I put a color photo in this time. Anyways, I’ve rambled on way too long. Here’s a taste of what went on today.

Alright. So last week I was invited by my friend, Derek Beer, Sponsorship Fulfillment of the Abbotsford Heat, to shoot the two back to back games against the Chicago Wolves (Vancouver Canucks’ farm team). The best part of it was going on the catwalk in the rafters to shoot. Unfortunately for the Heat, they lost both games 3-2 and 5-0…although I’m pretty sure the majority of the fans were cheering for the Chicago Wolves…dedicated fans? Who knows. I love the feeling of having priority over other people. You know, wearing the “Media Access” pass around your neck, being able to walk through doors an attending fan couldn’t do. Or being able to sit in any empty seat I feel like, while having the ability to use any length of lens I wish? Love. I think the only bad thing about shooting hockey is that the lighting isn’t that great in certain areas. Oh well, better than concert lighting! Anyways, I’ve rambled on way too much. Here’s a bit of what went on. Hope you enjoy!

So. Today there is more snow. Weirdly enough I looked outside my window and saw blue skies, yet it was snowing! Anyways, I decided to go for a walk down my road to a place called Fish Trap Creek. It’s such a great place to go to since it’s not very big to walk around so it doesn’t take a long time to do. It said it was -7 celsius today. Unfortunately I had one glove on so I could take photos with my camera, so my one hand was fine, but the other hand went numb! Well worth it though. Anyways, here’s a taste of Fish Trap Creek in Abbotsford, British Columbia.
